Once defeated the Minotaur, Theseus and Ariadne left Crete to land on the island of Dia (Naxos). Here the two lovers rested, but the next morning Ariadne woke up alone. She desperately searched for her love until she realized that Theseus had left because in the distance he had glimpsed the unfolded sails of his ship bound for Athens. An abandonment on which weigh still today multiple hypotheses and a pain that was filled by the intervention of Dionysus who married Ariadne.
